End of Summer progress

These vines are looking very strong at the end of August!  We received several inches of rain in the last week and sone real heat that made these vines grow even taller and stronger.  It's been a great wet summer, I've only had to water twice this year.

Date Night

After a long hot day of watering vines and mowing, I thought it would a great night to take the mustang to Mankato for some wine and cheese bread.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Barley harvest

Along with grapes, we grow corn, soy beans and barley.  Last week we cut, harvested, and baled the straw from our barley.  We grew 2 row conlon malted barley.  If you would like to purchase barley for brewing, please contact me.

Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery

Our first stop of the night was at the Chankaska Creek Ranch & Winery.  We had great weather as we sat outside on the deck drinking wine and enjoying great friends.  It's a must stop!  

Great summer growth

In the past month we finally received some hot and humid weather that made these vines explode.  We finally watered them for the first time yesterday.  Most of them are over 6 feet tall. 

1st year Marquette looking good

These Marquettes were planted the first week in May.  I hope we get some good heat this month so we can see them take off!

MGGA at Round Lake Vineyard

Great day and great weather at Round Lake Vineyards on Saturday June 21.  Met a lot of great new people from Minnesota and South Dakota.  Thanks again.

New vineyard

This spring we went in agreement with Round Lake Vineyards to produce grapes for their new winery.  We couldn't be more excited and greatful for this opportunity!  The above picture will be the new vineyard.  Construction on it will begin this fall 2014 and the first vines will be planted spring 2015.  Please support the Minnesota wine industry and buy their wine!  Cheers - Markus

Waiting for spring

While we finally hit 60 degrees for the first time in 5 months, but the wind was blowing 40mph.  So we thought it would be a great weekend to brew beer for this summer, and we also baked cupcakes... Kennedy was a great helper!
